Iron with Lactoferrin & Kakadu Plum

Sale price$46.99

PEER REVIEWED

Means each Land Lab formulation is independently examined by leading experts across nutrition and medicine. We invite doctors, dietitians, naturopaths, and midwives to rigorously review our formulations and share honest, evidence-based feedback that informs every decision. Their scrutiny ensures every ingredient and dosage aligns with the highest clinical standards.

Built intelligently to improve iron delivery, not to just add more iron.

Formulated to be gentle on the stomach, highly bioavailable and suitable for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Land Lab Iron™ combines Ferrochel® iron bisglycinate, 200mg grass-fed bovine lactoferrin, Kakadu Plum and activated cofactors to support the whole iron pathway; from absorption and transport through to utilisation.

Clinical studies have shown that the combination of lactoferrin and iron bisglycinate raises haemoglobin and ferritin more effectively than standard ferrous sulphate, while causing significantly fewer gastrointestinal side effects, including constipation. We pair these ingredients with a whole-food Vitamin C from Kakadu Plum (First Nations sourced) and cofactors that improve iron absorption and utilisation.

This formulation offers a smart solution for individuals who have struggled to improve their iron stores and ferritin levels despite supplementing with traditional iron salts.

Features 200mg grass-fed Australian bovine lactoferrin

Land Lab Iron™ contains an evidence-based dose of 200mg grass-fed bovine lactoferrin. Lactoferrin is a naturally occurring protein found in breast milk that supports iron absorption and utilisation. It has been shown to reduce inflammatory signals such as IL-6 and hepcidin, which can impair iron absorption, while also helping transport iron across the intestinal lining. Together, these mechanisms support more efficient iron uptake with fewer gastrointestinal side effects than conventional ferrous salts.

Works differently to traditional iron

Most iron supplements focus on replacing iron alone. Land Lab Iron™ combines Ferrochel® iron bisglycinate with 200 mg of grass-fed bovine lactoferrin to support iron absorption, transport and utilisation. This whole-pathway approach is designed to help your body use iron more effectively, not simply consume more of it.

Highly bioavailable form of iron

Land Lab Iron™ provides 24 mg of Ferrochel® iron bisglycinate, a chelated form of iron with superior absorption and gastrointestinal tolerance compared with conventional ferrous sulphate. Ferrochel® has been widely studied for its bioavailability and is less likely to cause common digestive side effects associated with traditional iron salts.

Specific activated cofactors: B12, Folate, Copper

Land Lab Iron™ includes activated vitamin B12 (methylcobalamin), Quatrefolic® levomefolate and copper to support healthy red blood cell production and iron metabolism. These nutrients work alongside iron to help transport, utilise and maintain healthy iron status.

Multi-action formulation

Land Lab Iron™ combines Ferrochel® iron bisglycinate with 200 mg of grass-fed bovine lactoferrin to support iron absorption, transport and utilisation. Clinical studies have shown this combination raises haemoglobin and ferritin more effectively than standard ferrous salts. Rather than focusing solely on iron intake, the formulation supports the entire iron pathway. (Zhao et al., 2022; Christofi et al., 2024; McCarthy & O’Callaghan, 2024).

400mg Kakadu Plum as a whole-food source of vitamin C

Contains 400mg of Australian Kakadu Plum, the richest natural source of vitamin C in the world. Vitamin C supports the absorption of non-heme iron, and meta-analyses have shown that co-supplementing iron with vitamin C improves haemoglobin more effectively than iron alone. Kakadu Plum also provides naturally occurring phytonutrients in a whole-food form.

Pairs seamlessly with Mother Dose™

Designed to complement Mother Dose™ for those who need targeted iron support during preconception, pregnancy or postpartum. Mother Dose™ does not contain iron, allowing iron to be supplemented separately based on pathology, ferritin levels and practitioner guidance.

Backed by rigorous research and built for social impact

Every active ingredient and dosage has been selected using clinical evidence, including systematic reviews and meta-analyses. Land Lab Iron™ is produced in Australia under GMP standards and supports maternal and nutritional equity through the Motherlines Foundation.

Rigorously validated and independently verified

Clinician-formulated, TGA-listed and independently third-party tested for identity, purity and label accuracy. Formulated for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding when taken as directed. Every batch is manufactured to rigorous Australian quality standards.

    No side affects

I'd pretty much given up on iron supplements entirely. This feels different though... simple, gentle and easy. No bad side affects like most

    Great formula

After two pregnancies and years of low ferritin, I was looking for something that felt more considered. I love that this formula focuses on absorption and includes lactoferrin. So happy.

    Really enjoying

I've tried so many iron supplements over the years and usually give up after a few weeks. This is the first one that's felt easy to take consistently.

LAND LAB IRON™

SUPPORTS THE
WHOLE PATHWAY

Most iron supplements focus on delivery alone. Land Lab Iron™ takes a more comprehensive approach. Our Triple Action Iron System is built for better uptake by combining highly bioavailable Ferrochel® iron, clinically studied lactoferrin and Kakadu Plum to support the delivery, absorption and utilisation of iron throughout the body. Because effective iron support isn't just about how much iron you take, it's about how well your body can use it.

Step 1: Iron enters gently

Land Lab Iron™ uses Ferrochel® iron bisglycinate; a highly absorbable form of iron that is bound to amino acids. This allows it to be absorbed more efficiently while remaining gentler on the digestive system than many traditional iron supplements.

-

Step 2: The blockage is cleared

When the body is under stress or low-grade inflammation, it produces a signal called IL-6, which triggers a hormone called hepcidin. Hepcidin's job is to shut down iron absorption. It closes the gate. This is often why iron supplements have failed before - not because you weren't taking enough, but because inflammation had the gate shut. Lactoferrin reduces IL-6, which lowers hepcidin and reopens the absorption pathway.

-

Step 3: Absorption is amplified

Kakadu Plum provides a whole-food source of vitamin C to help support iron absorption, while B12, folate and copper help support healthy red blood cell production and iron utilisation.

-

Together, these ingredients form a multi-action system designed to support the delivery, absorption and utilisation of iron throughout the body.

22 EVIDENCE BACKED INGREDIENTS

IRON (as bisglycinate chelate, Ferrochel®)

The gentlest, best-absorbed form of iron available.

The gentlest, best-absorbed form of iron available. Bound to amino acids, it absorbs without creating the free radical activity that makes conventional iron hard on the gut - and it's been shown to be absorbed up to four times more efficiently than standard ferrous sulfate.

BOVINE LACTOFERRIN

A natural iron-binding protein found in breast milk and mucosal secretions.

A natural iron-binding protein found in breast milk and mucosal secretions. At 200mg - the evidence-based therapeutic dose - lactoferrin reduces the inflammatory signals that close down iron absorption, reopening pathways that stress, inflammation or chronic deficiency can shut.

KAKADU PLUM

An Australian native plant with the highest recorded vitamin C content in the plant kingdom

An Australian native plant with the highest recorded vitamin C content in the plant kingdom - up to 75x that of an orange. Vitamin C enhances non-heme iron absorption and provides antioxidant protection against oxidative stress

FOLATE (as Quatrefolic®, levomefolate glucosamine)

The activated form of folate - ready to use without conversion.

The activated form of folate - ready to use without conversion. Essential for red blood cell formation and particularly important for those with MTHFR gene variants who struggle to convert standard folic acid.

B12 (as co-methylcobalamin)

The active, bioavailable form of B12, which the body can use immediately.

The active, bioavailable form of B12, which the body can use immediately. Required for healthy red blood cell production - and included because iron deficiency can mask a B12 deficiency, making it easy to address one and miss the other.

COPPER (as copper gluconate)

An often-overlooked player in iron metabolism.

An often-overlooked player in iron metabolism. Copper is required for ceruloplasmin - the enzyme that converts iron into the form the body can transport and use. Without it, iron can accumulate without being properly utilised.

Our Social Impact Mission

Access to essential nutrition during pregnancy shouldn't be a privilege.

One in four pregnant Australian women can't afford prenatal vitamins. Micronutrient deficiencies during pregnancy are linked to increased risks of anaemia, preterm birth, low birth weight, and long-term health concerns for both mother and child.

That's why we created the Motherlines Foundation.

Every sale helps fund free prenatal supplements for Australian women experiencing financial hardship. Our DGR-registered charity, Motherlines Foundation, delivers evidence-based nutrition to the people who need it most, because every mother deserves support, not just those who can afford it.

Built-In Impact

Every sale helps to fund 10 months of free prenatal multivitamins for a pregnant Australian woman experiencing disadvantage.

Built on Responsibility

From ethical sourcing to a profit-for-purpose model, we embed responsible impact at every level of the organisation.

THE SCIENCE BEHIND OUR FORMULAS

Instead of relying solely on 'clinically validated' ingredients, we go a step further by testing our own formulations. We follow a universally acknowledged hierarchy of scientific research methods to test how the individual ingredients themselves and then the complete formula works to achieve benefits.

We are partnered with prominent research institutions to conduct both in vitro and in vivo analysis, featuring advanced gut models and extensive clinical trials.

This rigorous scientific validation isn't just a checkbox for us, it's a core commitment to ensuring that every product we offer is safe and efficacious.

We're not just following the science-we're leading it.
